Maison Margiela By Mark Borthwick
My work is inspired by soft power,
it looks soft but actually has amazing power.
It seems like a space that I dream to create,
it exists between relationships and area.
Dream require courage.
Courage is a quality that we tend to associate with conflict.
We respect brave soldiers,
when they face powerful opponents and win,
we will treat them as heroes.
But there is another courage in the world…
“Fiona had alway been shot as a waif - tendrils of hair blowing )dressed in liege Out in some sort of lily field. She told me she wanted to chuck that scene and be a warrior woman in a suit of armor”. —- Joe Mcnally, The Monment It Clicks.
There is a form of courage that is based on the same principle - personal vulnerability -
but does not put the protagonist in any direct physical danger.
It is a kind of psychological courage
that requires us to stand up uninvited and express our feelings
and thoughts in a public audience to a hostile audience.
I express myself by creating jewelry.
As a jeweler,
I am inspired by the world and the moments that I experience.
Whatever experiences I go through they create emotions in me
and that is what triggers me to create jewelry pieces.
Noticing things is also a source of inspiration as I am observing the environment that surrounds me.
I use sterling silver wire and Argentium silver as my main material.
Silver wire is a very beautiful way to form expression,
for me,
the design process is related to how I see,
what I see and translate into metal.
I mainly rely on these materials because they match all expectations.
Additionally, they evoke in me a sense of soft feel and soft touch but is quite strong.
I can compare the piece to women;
—women are perceived to be vulnerable in some regards,
however,
we are the strongest.
Soft Power Has Infinite Possibility
We are blessed with patience,
humility,
and tolerance.
We have infinite possibilities.

There is a lady.
She was the kind of woman that no matter how litter space she tried to take up,
I could tell she was bigger that it.
I mean,
big like the stars.
Look deeper,
she is invincible.
This woman is so unafraid to be on the outside, if she feel it was the right thing.

Women can never be afraid to be on the outside.
I want to make sure everyone has a space at that situation.

Like water, people take water for granted but it is a very important aspect of life that we need,
however,
water is powerful as one can drown in it,
it can cause floods and when there is no water people will die because of draught hence no food will be available and there will be no quenched thirst.

thought goes through — repeat — how it can be developed.

Above all,
I want to use a simple way express complex thoughts.
I put all my emotions into wire.
The process tells my story,
while I am weaving,
it builds a space to extend my jewelry to the world,
as a tiny wearable sculpture.
